Website Terms of Use

1. By using this website, the user accepts all the following terms and conditions. Use of this website and its contents is permitted to persons over 16 years of age. Otherwise, the prior consent of the guardian is required.

2. All of the content of this website, including, inter alia, texts, graphics, photographs, blueprints, illustrations, videos, services provided, has the sole purpose of promoting non-profit, educational and academic activities.

3. For any use, reproduction, republishing, copying, transmission, distribution, publication, etc., of the content of the website, it is necessary to recognize the Center for Research on Democracy and Law (CEDLAW) of the University of Macedonia (Greece) and, in certain cases (e.g. research publication), also any other persons referenced within this website. In case of non-compliance with the above, CEDLAW reserves the right to demand the immediate removal or revocation of use of its website’s material, as well as seek compensation for any injuries or damages incurred.

4. CEDLAW does not bear any responsibility for acts or opinions expressed on this website, in particular related to research outputs, and does not adopt or accept them. CEDLAW is not responsible for any damage caused to the user by the use of this website.

Personal Data Protection

1. The process of collection, processing and protection of personal data is in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, hereinafter referred to as ‘Regulation’), Greek Law 4624/2019 and Greek Law 3471/2006, as well as with the Data Protection Policy of the University of Macedonia (https://www.uom.gr/terms,  https://www.uom.gr/downloads/terms/Politiki-Prostasias-UOM.pdf).

2. The controller for processing is the University of Macedonia, headquartered in Thessaloniki, Greece, at Egnatia 156, postal code 54636, tel. 0030 2310 891101. 3. The data collected on a case-by-case basis by CEDLAW are presented in the table below; CEDLAW does not collect any other data. These data are collected for the overall purpose of promoting the academic, research and operational objectives and needs of CEDLAW – a purely scientific Laboratory of the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia (Greece) – with the aim of fulfilling its statutory purpose of “serving educational and research needs through basic and applied research” (article 2 of the Rules of Operation of CEDLAW, Government Gazzette B’ 1784/11.05.2020),  thus contributing to public and academic life, and for the legal safeguarding of the CEDLAW (further specific objectives are mentioned in the table below). Collection and processing takes place after the relevant consent of the data subject, and/or for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a contracting party or for measures to be taken at the request of the data subject prior to the conclusion of such a contract, and/or for the performance of a task performed in the public interest.

4. The data collected by CEDLAW, as described above, are not transmitted nor communicated to any third party other than CEDLAW and its staff (who expressly commit to not copy nor disclose, and keep confidential, all of the data they may come across during their duties, throughout the duration of serving as members of CEDLAW and also after they leave), with the following exceptions:
– in the case of becoming a member of CEDLAW, for the purpose of a brief presentation (educational background, photo, dates of membership and CEDLAW department) of the members;
– in the case of promotion of CEDLAW, for the presentation of audiovisual material for promotional activities,
– in all cases where, and only to the extent to which, this is required by law, a court or prosecutor’s order, or a decision/order of any other public authority.

5. All data are collected exclusively in electronic form and all appropriate organisational and technical security measures for their safe processing and protection against risks are assumed for their storage .

6. CEDLAW retains on record the abovementioned data, as appropriate, for as long as this is necessary for the fulfilment of the wider objectives of CEDLAW and the specific purposes as set out in the table above , and/or until they are legally required to be deleted, and/or for the purpose of archiving and creating a historical record in the public interest.

7. You have the right to access, correct or restrict (when the appropriate legal prerequisites exist) the processing of your personal data, as well as other rights which, where applicable, in accordance with the Regulation and Greek Law 4624/2019. In particular, in the case of the newsletter/email registration list, you have the right to request to be removed from the list at any time with a simple email to CEDLAW (kediduom@gmail.com).
