Educational Visit to the Supreme Court, Council of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Research Unit “European Policies and Democracy” (the predecessor of CEDLAW), in collaboration with the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence “Research on Crucial Issues of European Integration” of the University of Macedonia, organized the first in a long time educational visit of the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia at the Supreme Court of Justice of Greece, the Council of State, and the Special Legal Department of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday, 29th November 2017, in Athens.

The participating students (M. Kilinkaridou, K. Xynogalou, P. Siapkari, K. Gouga, A. Kranta, D. Damianidou, M. Simaioforidou) had the unique opportunity to discuss with the Hon. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Greece,  Vasilios Peppas, the Chief Prosecutor, Xeni Dimitriou, the Deputy Chief Justice of the Council of State, Athanasios Rantos, and the Head of the division of EU Law of the Special Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Panagiotis Mylonopoulos.
The students were accompanied in the educational visit by Associate Professor of the Department and Head of the Centre of Excellence, Despoina Anagnostopoulou, and PhD candidate of the Department and Administrator of the Research Unit, Alexandros Kyriakidis.
This was the first educational visit of the Department in a long time, especially to high-level officials of the judiciary and executive. There was an excellent opportunity for participating students to get to know, hear and discuss with esteemed personalities of the field, to ask their questions, to be informed and to deepen their knowledge on issues of interest to them.
